Feyenoord has shown interest in Elia Caprile as a new goalkeeper, but will have to dig deep into their pockets to sign him. The 24-year-old goalkeeper from Cagliari Calcio represents an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of 16.8 million euros. If the Rotterdam club were to actually put this amount on the table, the Italian would become the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the Eredivisie in one fell swoop. Currently, the incoming transfer record for goalkeepers in the Dutch competition is still held by Gerónimo Rulli, who made the switch to Ajax in January 2023 for 8 million euros. According to Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Feyenoord is currently in the exploratory phase to investigate whether Caprile's arrival is financially feasible. The right-back previously flowed through the youth academy of Leeds United and landed via Bari, Empoli, and Napoli last year at Cagliari. With that transfer, a sum of 8.2 million euros was involved. In the Serie A, the goalkeeper grew into an undisputed starter on the Italian island. The 1.91-meter-tall goalkeeper missed not a single minute in the competition and stood in all 38 matches at the kick-off. In those matches, he conceded 53 goals, made 122 saves, and kept a clean sheet eight times. Due to these performances, Cagliari decided to exercise the buyout option in his loan contract, making him now have a permanent contract until mid-2029. However, it is unlikely that Caprile will actually play on the Italian island next season, given the huge interest in him. Feyenoord has inquired with Cagliari about Elia Caprile, who also attracts interest from Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Besiktas. While AC Milan and Inter are also actively pursuing him. Cagliari has informed Feyenoord that they want at least 20 million euros for Caprile, according to transfer journalist Nicolò Schira. This is considered too expensive by Feyenoord.
